Map the VFP estate
- Collect DBF/CDX/FPT, DBC/DCT/DCX and source/project/report/form assets.
- Separate local tables from remote SQL views and client/server backends.
- Trace stored procedures, triggers, buffering, transactions and generated keys.
- Inventory COM servers, automation clients, ODBC and file/device integrations.
- Characterize reports and workflows with representative outputs.
Incremental options
| Data first | Migrate backend while retaining VFP client temporarily. |
|---|---|
| Workflow replacement | Replace bounded functions against a stable data/API contract. |
| Integration facade | Wrap VFP behavior or expose controlled exchange while transition proceeds. |
| Rewrite | Only after behavior and reporting requirements are testable. |
Use dBase migration for simpler DBF estates, DBF recovery for damage, executable analysis when source is incomplete and the pillar.
Provide source/project, complete data, integrations, reports and critical workflow examples.
